Whitchurch-Stouffville
Located to the north-east of Toronto and around 40km away from the downtown core, Whitchurch-Stouffville prides itself on the balance it provides between country and city life. This is most apparent in the town’s official motto: “Country close to the city”.
That town motto seems appropriate. The town of Whitchurch-Stouffville has vast areas of farm land and green space, with many parts of the town located within protected green belt areas. At the same time, the town centre is a bustling and modern municipality with all the amenities you’d expect form a large town, like galleries, museums, recreation centres, parks, shops, restaurants, and quality schools.
One of the most desirable features of the town centre is a GO train station located just off Main Street. Passengers can enjoy services to Union Station in downtown Toronto every day of the week. The train passes through stations in Markham and Scarborough before terminating at Union Station and the full journey takes a little over an hour. That service is of great benefit to anyone commuting to Toronto.
With good transit, an excellent quality of life, and cheaper house prices than places closer to Toronto, Whitchurch-Stouffville has had something of a population boom in recent years. According to Statistics Canada census data, the population of Whitchurch-Stouffville rose from 19,835 in 1996 to 45,837 in 2016 – an incredible 131.1% increase.
The town has kept pace with its growing population and one of the ways it has done that is with a large number of new home developments. The majority of these have been single-family homes – a mix of townhomes, semi-detached, and detached homes.
